The Rasmus goes back to the 70’s for their new album

www.lavanguardia.es {Mexico} - 24 October 2008

Mexico. (EFE).- The rock alternative Finnish group The Rasmus turned their sight to the 70's rock for their new album 'Black Roses', an album made with a "narrative" style, revealed today their lead singer Lauri Ylönen.

The Rasmus, that jumped to the fame with their single 'In The Shadows' some years ago, wanted that the songs from the record bond with each other to make a story, like the style of many rock albums from the 70's, pointed the singer in the presentation of their job.

With the help of a book to write movie guidelines, the foursome found inspiration in the Greek island of Folegandros, under the production of a "living legend", Desmond Child, author of hits for rockers like Kiss, Alice Cooper and Aerosmith, among others.

The record, the seventh in the career of the Finnish men, follows a path which was defined by the band in four stages. "Orphan, immigrant, warrior and martyr", like the pattern of movies like 'E.T.' or 'Star Wars', described the singer.

The intrincate of the concept made that the album, that has less than a month in stores, delayed a little bit. The world tour was going to start in October, but Ylönen stated today that it starts for January.

The tour is going to start through Scandinavian countries and Northern Europe and might get to Mexico in April. "In Mexico we have a big audience, very enthusiastic", said the singer, that for this record has changed the black of his hair for a shiny blond.

'Black Roses', that belongs to a genre that the band defines as 'death pop' for their dark lyrics but with a positive message, won't upset too much the live performances fo the group, despite their narrative character, explained the singer.

"There are things that must be done in the album that later you can't do on stage, like making a world of sound. The live must be more raw, more simple, because you have to take out all the energy". qualified Ylönen.

The booklet included in the album 'Black Roses' contains also "hidden messages" for their fans, in a way like heavenly letters, added.

From their first job in 1996, the Finnish The Rasmus, that any of them goes over the 30 years old, has sold over two million and a half in the world.
